アメリカと日本をまたにかけ、時の人を撮り続けてきた写真家、カーティス・ナップ氏。アンディ・ウォーホールからマドンナ、三船敏郎から叶姉妹、石原都知事まで、数々の著名人を捕らえてきた。人物の内面を引き出し、もっとも美しい形で立ち現れた一瞬を捕らえる写真家として高い信頼を得る彼に、写真家となったきっかけから、時の著名人を撮るということ、そして日本について語ってもらった。

In Japan and America, Curtis Knapp has been taking pictures of
the famous people of our time. Andy Warhol, Madonna and Toshiro
Mifune, are just some of the celebrities he has photographed . He
is highly recognized for capturing the true essence of his subject.
Curtis is now based in Japan, and here he talks with eigoTown.com
about how he got started and his experience of photographing famous
people.

写真家。ニューヨークに生まれる。イラストレーターとして活躍後、写真家に転身。80年にニューヨークにスタジオを設立し、マドンナやウォーホールなどの著名人のポートレートを撮影。84年に来日。独特の手法で、美しいポートレートを撮る写真家として活躍。
Photographer. Born in New York. Worked as an illustrator in
NYC. Set up his first studio in 1980. Photographed a large number
of celebrities such as Madonna, and Andy Warhol. Relocated to
Japan in 1984. |
