エイゴタウンについて
Ｑ．エイゴタウンはどんなサイトですか。
また、設立の理由を聞かせて下さい。
Ａ．インターネットは日本で急速に発展してきていますし、また、英語は日本社会の中でますます重要性が高まってきています。そういった現状を見て、インターネット上に英語の拠点となるものをつくったら非常におもしろいものができるのではないかと思ったのです。英語と英語を学ぶことに関心のある人々がそこを訪れ、楽しみ、情報を得、教養を深められるような場所です。そしてその場所で、同じ関心を持つ人々が出会い、意見を交換しあえるということ。エイゴタウンはそんなコミュニティの場となることをめざしています。また、エイゴタウンは英語に関心のある人々にとって最初の独立系情報源となると思います。エイゴタウンは特定の企業や広告主や団体の利益を代表するものではありません。私はエイゴタウンがよりよい国際理解へ大きく貢献できればと考えています。

Ｑ．今後エイゴタウンをどのように発展させていこうと考えていますか。
Ａ．毎日エイゴタウンをさらに改良してゆくべく努めています。数カ月のうちにその成果をお見せすることができるでしょう。例えば、ラジオ放送や、さらに双方向性を加えたレッスン、日本の英語の先生のためのセクション、チャットルーム、ペンパルクラブその他です。読者の方々のご意見をつねに取り入れ、英語に関心のある人々すべてにとって最も使いやすく、最も豊富な情報で最も便利なサイトにしてゆくつもりです。

Ａ．エイゴクラブはエイゴタウンの住人になりたい人のためのクラブです。各種特典や豪華なプレゼントがあたるチャンスがある他、エイゴクラブメンバーの各種パーティを企画しています。英語に関心のある人はどなたでも歓迎です。パーティで実際にお会いできることを楽しみにしています！

Q. What is eigoTown? Why did you decide to set it up?
A. Well, the Internet is growing very rapidly in Japan and English is becoming
more and more important for Japanese society -- I thought that it would be very
exciting to create the Internet-based focus for English in Japan. eigoTown is
a place that people interested in English and interested in learning English can
go to be entertained, informed and educated -- a place where people can talk with
others interested in English and form a community. eigoTown is also the first
completely independent source of information for those interested in English.
Our content is not linked to one particular company, advertiser or organization.
I truly hope that eigoTown can make a significant contribution to international
understanding.

Q. How will eigoTown develop?
A. We're working every day to improve eigoTown, and people will see the
results of this work in the next couple of months -- we're going to have a radio
station, more interactive lessons, a section for Japanese teachers of English,
chat rooms, pen-pal clubs and much more. With the help of feedback from our visitors
we will make sure that eigoTown is the easiest, most comprehensive and useful
place to visit for anyone interested in English.

Q. What is eigoClub?
A. eigoClub is the club for people who want to become "residents" of eigoTown
-- as well as providing special benefits and giving out prizes etc, we will be
staging parties and events where eigoClub members can get together in real life.
Anyone who has any interest in English should consider becoming a member of eigoClub
-- and I look forward to meeting them at one of our parties!
